Ok so I missed some training this last month due to injuries and I still can't train as hard as I would like but I have to think positively and be grateful that I am running at all. Thank God for ice, Advil, and physio. I was able to get in my last long run on Sunday of 30+kms and I am doing about 80% of my training schedule so I guess that's good. It's taper time now with the race only a little over 2 weeks away so it's pretty much mental at this stage. I tend to think I'm relatively strong in that department but some negative things that go through my head during races always surprises me, so I have learned the importance of the mental game and how beneficial some of the tricks can be. Until I get there, all I can do is think of positive messages that will help me get through the tough times. My key "mantra" given to me by my sister, niece, and Nemo is "just keep swimming, just keep swimming..." which I'm sure I will call upon a lot on the 31st but here is another one from one of my favourite books that I just love so I will add it to my list. If anyone is reading this and has any for me, by all means please post them!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
Dr. Seuss from "Oh the Places You'll Go!"
